Turkey Trot Recap and Cyber Monday Running Gift Ideas
I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday with their family. Mine was excellent, was nice to get out NYC for a few days and spend time with family. I ran the Pequot 5 mile Turkey Trot in Southport, CT. This was my second time and I was surprised how popular it has become. There were more than 7,500 runners who came out and rand the streets of beautiful Southport.
I ran with my wife and sister at a leisurely pace, the goal for our Turkey Trot was to enjoy the morning and have fun. We finished the race together in about 48 minutes; it was nice to run a race with no time in mind after having just finished two marathons over the past 4 weeks. Burning calories in preparation for the feast was the main thing on my mind; but it was also fun to finish a race with my wife. We did this last year at the St. Pete 10k Turkey Trot and has now become a tradition for us to run a race and finish together.
Last night at #runchat we asked a question about Cyber Monday stocking stuffer ideas for runners. There were lots of suggestions about products that I had never heard about before and some that have been a staple in my closet. To help refocus all of you on Cyber Monday today, below is a list of id
eas with links.
- #RunChat Headsweats visor. How can I not put this first! There are a limited amount available for Cyber Monday so make sure if you are interested you go purchase one.
- GU Holiday Flavors. The perfect stocking stuffer for those runners who will likely get a long training run in on Christmas.
- Knuckle Lights Running Gear. I heard about this for the first time last night and thought they were a brilliant idea. Perfect for the runner who trains at night or early in the morning.
- Zensah Compression Socks. I use them and found out last night that many runners would want a pair for Christmas. Hope your loved ones are taking notes!
- Go Sport ID. Probably the most commented item last night on #runchat was this. Such an important piece of equipment and can be customized.
Hope everyone has a great start to the week. Happy Cyber Monday shopping, hope you all get some great deals. To find more running gift ideas feel free to use this link.
