#RunChat

On the second and fourth Sunday of each month, I co-moderate #runchat on Twitter with David from RunningBecauseICan. This page is dedicated to FAQs about #runchat for anyone unfamiliar with it. Do you have a question not answered below? Send me a message via my Contact page and we’ll get it added.

What is #runchat?
It’s a Twitter chat held at 8 p.m. Eastern Time the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month on Twitter. Davjd and I ask questions ever 10-15 minutes, you answer them. You can retweet the questions if you’d like. From there, just interact with others based on their answers.

Who are we?
I’m @iRunnerBlog; David is @RunningBecause. Be sure to follow us both on Twitter as occasionally we moderate solo.

How do I participate in #runchat?
There are several ways. You can easily follow the #runchat tag during the chat on Tweetchat.com. Just log in with your Twitter user name and then type in the #runchat tag. The page automatically refreshes. If you use HootSuite or TweetDeck, create a #runchat column. Using regular Twitter, create a #runchat saved search.

Who participates in #runchat?
Runners of all levels do. We have non-runners who are curious, beginners, slow people, speed demons and seasoned marathoners. You can find active participants on my Twitter list here.

Are #runchat sessions sponsored?
Yes. You can win some great prizes just by participating. Previous sponsors and giveaways have included Ryder’s, Zensah, Pearl iZUMi and Brooks. If you’re interested in sponsoring #runchat, please contact me here.

Can I use the #runchat tag at other times during the week?
Yes, you can use the tag to talk about running, promote blog entries, etc.

The #runchat will last from 8-9 p.m. EST. We’ll post a new question every 5-10 minutes, depending on the nature of the conversations going on. We will be moderating the chat and all questions will come from me (@iRunnerBlog) and David  (@RunningBecause).

Here are some helpful tips for having the best #runchat experience:

  • TweetDeck or Hootsuite, create a new column with the #runchat tag to follow along
  • TweetChat, just sign in to that site with your Twitter account, put in the tag #runchat, you can join in the conversation without even having to retype #runchat
  • web-based Twitter, create a new saved search with #runchat.
  • No matter how you follow along, please use the hashtag #runchat in each of your posts so everyone can follow all of fantastic responses.

Upcoming #runchat schedule:

July 10th and 24th

August 14th and 28th

September 11th and 25th
